A SaaS tool built like LEGO for biopharma

A global life science and clinical research company supplying analytical instruments, clinical development solutions, and specialty diagnostics to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors needed to rethink how its sales and engineering teams configure complex systems for clients.

As a fractional UX design strategist, I led the design of an AI-powered configurator: a real-time tool for searching components and assemblies, and building shared workspaces where sales teams and clients can collaborate live.

Challenge

The current workflow is painfully slow.

  • A sales rep writes an email
  • An engineer spends up to three days drafting a schematic
  • The client waits with no visibility or input along the way.

Our goal

Enable instantaneous, real-time configuration. When a sales rep swaps a component, the system immediately rebuilds and validates the schematic with no lag, no back-and-forth.

Solution

A B2B SaaS configuration tool built like a LEGO set for biopharma that allows users to assemble and modify complex systems, including tubes, bags, and filters, live during client meetings.

Fast Start: Find, Open, or Build in Seconds

A sales representative can quickly search using autocomplete across components, assemblies, or workspaces, or jump into a recent search or existing workspace. They can also create a new workspace by uploading a schematic and/or connect it to a Salesforce ID.

Configure with Confidence in Real Time

From there, the sales rep can swap components across the product line and instantly validate the build. The system checks whether the correct tube sizes, clamps, and bags are in place, then flags any issues. They can quickly locate problems and replace a single component, update an assembly, or apply fixes across the entire build.
